Winter Wonderland by Jennie

Today Jennie has another awesome layout featuring the Winter Wonderland collection. I love how she used different papers to create her own background. Starting with the Silver White Winter paper and adding the 2×12 strip from the element sheet to the bottom. Then she layered up papers from the 6×6 paper pad behind her photo. Lots of papers on a layout is just my favorite!

This little cluster is made using some stickers from the 4×6 sticker sheets and die cuts from the bits and pieces pack. She wrapped it all up with this little circle of twine. So cute!

Jennie made lots of fun clusters on her page using more stickers, die cuts and 6×12 chipboard stickers. She used some Tombow foam tabs to lift the “Let it Snow” off the page and make her title stand out on the (literal) white space in her photo. That helped to bring all the embellishments and this adorable photo together. Plus, her signature enamel dots as the finishing touch to this super-fun snowman layout!

This layout would go so perfectly next to the other layout Jennie did this month in her album. Definitely check that out! See more information from Jennie about this layout on her blog. Also, follow Jennie on Instagram or watch her videos on YouTube. She has a lot of fun, colorful and inspirational videos there!

Winter Wonderland by Simone

Simone did two more layouts using the Winter Wonderland collection and they are AMAZING! This one titled, “Silvesterwanderung” uses papers from the line and almost no stickers or die cuts and yet it looks so embellished. Aside from the title letters from the 12×12 sticker sheet, the only embellishment she used was this deer sticker. Until she pointed it out in her blog post, I didn’t even notice! She did so much to make this layout interesting, I didn’t miss the embellishment at all!

I love all of these awesome layers and using the notebook punch gives it great dimension! It’s the perfect punch to use with this paper, since it’s so similar to notebook paper. Who doesn’t love a lined paper for journaling!

I love the stitching around the outside of this layout that’s covered by all of these awesome paper layers. Adding the brown ink with a stencil on the left adds to the outdoorsy theme to this layout.

Here’s a great close up showing all the stitching she did. She not only stitched the edges, but also on top of all the layers too. Simone really makes me want to get working with my sewing machine!

The whole layout is awesome right? I especially love these photos of them grilling outside in the cold. You definitely want to see what Simone says about this layout on her blog. It sounds like a really fun tradition!

The next layout by Simone has TONS of layers and mixed media too! She showcased a beautiful photo with lots of awesome layers and some die cuts from the bits and pieces. She also cut down some of the papers from the collection to make her own die cuts.

All these layers and dimension really make this photo pop off the page. The blue background paper was the perfect choice for the colors of this photo. The blue from the sky in the photo matches really well. While the orange glow from the candle really contrasts it. It was just the perfect choice!

Simone did a process video for this layout on her YouTube channel. I really recommend not only checking out this process video, but looking at what else she does. Simone’s channel is FULL of inspiration!

Polar Bears by Odessa

First I have to say, what an awesome photo right!?! Odessa and her family took a winter trip to the zoo and were able to see how much fun the polar bears were having in the cold weather. Enlarging this beautiful photo in her December Daily really made it stand out. She used primarily the Winter Wonderland collection by Simple Stories for this whole spread and it turned out awesome!

She embellished the photo and the area underneath with some of the stickers from the 12×12 and 4×6 sticker sheets. She added her journaling to the cluster here too. The chipboard heart coordinates perfectly with the paper she used for her photo mat. I just love all the layering she did here!

On the opposite page, photos of her family show how much they were enjoying their trip to the zoo. It’s so great when you can actually catch a photo of your child’s wonderment about the world.

She created this awesome card by cutting down a 4×6 card from the cut apart sheet and adding some word stickers from the 4×6 sticker sheets. She backed the word stickers with some washi tape and used this stamp set from 1 Canoe 2 to add to this card. This turned out so cute!

I love how she cut down this snow cute card for a filler card. Adding a few stickers gave it just the right amount of embellishment.

Odessa used an acetate paper that came with her album to place the date giving her more room for embellishing on her other pages. The placement of the word “wild” from the Amy Tangerine Thickers, is prefect for this layout!

Odessa is really awesome at coordinating her pages so that they look cohesive. Even if the photos didn’t match each other (which they really do), this layout just flows together. She makes sure to add lots of journaling to tell the story of the day too and then uses some enamel dots to draw your attention to it.

Odessa was really able to capture something most people don’t really get to see, since most of us save the zoo for warmer weather. After seeing this layout, I am definitely going to convince my family to brave the cold and head to the zoo this winter. Who’s with me?

If you’d like to see more about this layout head over to Odessa’s blog. She tells all about her trip there. Also, follow her on Instagram to see what else she’s up to!

Frosty Decembrr by Sandy

Even though this collection brings visions of freshly fallen snow, it also has the most soft and light colors that can be used for all kinds of memories!

Sandy used the Winter Wonderland collection to document this gorgeous photo of frost on the trees. The background for this photo is amazing! The beautiful sunrise underneath the perfectly blue sky just draws you in, doesn’t it? Can you believe her Mom took this photo with an iPhone 7? I almost feel like I’m there looking at it!

Sandy used the frosty letters and die cuts from the bits and pieces pack to create this awesome title on her photo, “Frosty Decembrr”. Too cute!

She tore some paper strips from the collection and added some gold stitching to create these awesome layers for her photo to rest on.

Sandy tucked some coordinating tags into her layers for journaling and to hold some phrases from the 4×6 sticker sheets that mirror the thoughts of this image. The painted stars and splatters, with a few dispersed enamel dots and snowflakes, create another layer of interest to this layout.

Sandy added a doily to reinforce the softness of this layout along with my new favorite embellishment, A FEATHER! No way would putting a feather on a layout have ever occurred to me, but now I’m finding myself looking for feathers to add to my own layouts!

I know this layout by Sandy has inspired me to do more mixed media in my layouts and think about what other things I could be adding to my pages! What did you take away from Sandy’s layout?

Winter Wonderland by Simone

Simone was unsure how she could use the Winter Wonderland collection initially and ended up with several beautiful layouts using it! This post includes two of those layouts and both happen to be talking about hats! In this layout Simone uses tons of lovely layers to raise a photo of herself in a beautifully knitted hat she loves. She layered the papers from the collection with a vellum envelope and tag she had in her stash. She fussy cut this giant snowflake from the cut apart sheet to use as her focus embellishment.

She used a chipboard heart from the chipboard stickers as part of her title, “In Love with My New Hat” and layered lots of snowflake embellishments around it from the 4×6 and 12×12 sticker sheets in the collection.

Some word stickers and more snowflakes added to the layers give this layout so much dimension. The enamel dots perfectly dispersed bring this whole layout together with multiple colors that coordinate perfectly with Simone’s super-cute hat!

The Blizzard paper she placed on the side helps to ground this layout and give this beautifully layered photo a place to live, keeping it from floating on the page. This page really showcases Simone’s awesome design skills and also how beautiful the Winer Wonderland collection is!

To read more about this layout visit Simone’s blog post where she wrote all about it.

The second layout Simone shared is about a hat, but the story has such a deeper meaning. The title, “Mein Held” translates to, “My Hero”. The story is about her mother and you just have to read what Simone says about the story on her blog.

I love how Simone incorporated a newer photo with an older one. She tied together a great story about her mother with the newer story of her hat and why it was special. It’s so great that she’s gotten older memories and facts down on paper for the next generations to see.

She used a grid design with the papers from the collection. That gave her one square for a title, one square for journaling and two places for her square photos. In the center she used one of the exclusive flair from the shop (that you get free with every order). I love that she incorporated that! She drew a line around the entire layout to pull the top embellishment cluster in with the rest of the layout. I love the zig zags she drew to mimic a stitched design.

How cute is this little top cluster? I just love those little mittens from the bits and pieces in this collection!

Winter Wonderland Instax Album by Jen

Jen received a new Instax camera for Christmas! What an awesome Christmas gift right? So she decided to use it right away to document her memories this holiday season. She used this adorable little Heidi Swapp Instax album. I love how she decided not to just use this as a simple photo album, but to customize it with paper and embellishments!

She started her album with paper from the Heart Day 6×6 paper pad as her title page. Then used some thickers to document the year.

Here Jen shows a few highlights of her Christmas Eve celebrations. She’s captured their Christmas tree, some yummy food and even “Santa” with this adorable puppy! Here she used two different paper pads and trimmed them to fit into the Instax-size pockets (Winter Wonderland 6×6 paper pad and Dear Lizzy Saturday 6×6 paper pad). Then some Winter Wonderland enamel dots and wood veneers from Color Cast Designs to finish up the embellishments this spread. I love how she types up her journaling and then cuts into strips to create some interest.

This spread has some hidden journaling that Jen put behind a flip up card (and another adorable puppy!). This gave her a way to include a lot of journaling while still using the embellishments she wanted to create a fun look to her album. Paper and “a million tiny little things” also from the Dear Lizzy Saturday collection.

Jen used a tab to create more hidden journaling on this spread. She also included two photos taken on her iPhone 7, printed to fit in the album. These were two amazing photos that would have been hard to achieve with the Instax camera. Make sure to visit Jen’s blog post about this layout for a couple of tips she learned while using the Instax camera. This “Cheers” sticker gives this spread the perfect amount of embellishment to let you just really enjoy the photos.

Jen used more of the Winter Wonderland 6×6 paper pad to document a few holiday things around her house and also a story about dinner and a movie. She included a ticket stub from the movie and journaling to tell the story.

Jen finished up this album with New Years Eve and New Years Day. I LOVE how this little album turned out! It’s a great alternative to December Daily, if you’re looking for one. She documented the last part of the month which included the two holidays she celebrates with family and friends. In that short amount of time she was able to tell a lot about her story and of her life right now! Did you see that she included “starting the year off at Starbucks”? A girl after my own heart!

My favorite thing about these spreads is how Jen uses a date stamp on each Instax print. It reminds me of all the Polaroid prints a lot of us have that have the dates written in that space. It’s so great how Instax has revived the use of instant photo and all of the things we have available to use with it! Like this album Jen created!

I would recommend reading Jen’s blog post about this spread. She includes lots of good tips on using her Instax camera and also tells more about the stories she’s documenting here.

Winter Wonderland Project Life-Style by Sandy

Even though Sandy hasn’t seen a lot of snow yet, she used the Winter Wonderland line to document the other comforts of the season. Her favorite things about her mom’s house, the holiday cookies she loves and even the tiny bit of snow they’ve seen so far are all documented on this spread.

Using primarily the same line of supplies, and typing all her journaling, Sandy was able to keep her spread cohesive while still using lots of beautiful embellishments. One of the best ways she does this is by using the “white space” in her photos for a few smaller stickers or die cuts. That helps to bring the whole spread together by making it seem like every photo matches, even if the colors in the photos are different. This is a great way to have different photos from different days seem like they were all meant to go together!

Sandy perfectly layered her title on the Momma’s Cookies card using some of the washi from the collection and the letter stickers from the 4×6 sticker sheets. Then she stitched on top of it all just for that extra special detail. I love the journaling on this card and especially how she says, “Home is where the momma is.” The “Cold Hands, Warm Hearts” card from the 3×4 cut apart sheet is my absolute FAVORITE! It’s even more cute with the little added gold heart! The scaled-down versions of the papers in the 6×6 paper pad make it easy to use those lined papers in a smaller format to journal in your pocket size scrapbooking.

Sometimes it’s hard to really love the winter season when I feel like I’m freezing all of the time. Sandy really reminded me of all the beautiful things there are to appreciate even while I’m bundled up shivering in my coat and scarf!

Winter Wonderland by Jennie

Jennie’s layout featuring Winter Wonderland tells a story about a blizzard they had last January. Her and her little one went outside and built this adorable snowman. It just worked out that there happened to be a snowman in the chipboard stickers that matched her snowman almost perfectly!

by Jennie Garcia

I love how Jennie uses her embellishments as layers for other embellishments. The snowman chipboard sticker is cute on his own, but he’s so much cuter with enamel dots for eyes and a felt heart added to his scarf!

by Jennie Garcia

Here is another example of Jennie’s attention to detail when she’s layering her embellishments. She used the mittens from the bits and pieces die cut pack, added some twine, hearts and enamel dots to create the perfect amount of dimension and interest. Lots of layering clusters and perfectly placed word stickers make this layout so much fun!

Even though these photos are only from a year ago, I bet it was great to be able to go back and relive those memories telling this story. Now this story can be in Jennie’s album for her family to revisit and enjoy. This is the reason we scrapbook! So don’t ever feel like you can’t go back and scrapbook older photos because you totally can!

Snow Fun by Odessa

Odessa’s spread in her December Daily features this adorable little one and the Winter Wonderland line by Simple Stories. This shot totally deserved it’s own page by itself. This is shows one of my favorite things about smaller format albums, it makes it so manageable to showcase an awesome photo with an oversize print.

by Odessa Reichel

On the opposite page Odessa coordinated some of the 3×4 cut aparts with the stickers from the 12×12 sticker sheet and the 4×6 stickers sheets. Then she ties everything together with a few embellishments, washi tape and enamel dots from the line. She gets a close up of her mad knitting skills (just look at those mittens), makes sure to include her coffee love and even catches those adorable boots! I LOVE how she made sure to include photos of herself. I never remember to do that!
