Heart Day by Simone

For the last post about Heart Day this month, Simone has two layouts to share! The first one, XOXO, she uses a mixed media approach, which I love! Paint and gesso make great additional layers to a background. She also has some other tips about this layout on her blog and in the process video.

She used the stamp set from this line to create additional layers to her background. I love how she repeats the heart pattern here with the acrylic heart from the ephemera pack!

Here is another close up of her mixed media background showing the great use of texture and color to add interest.

Simone used a few of the embellishment options from this line to cluster this top corner and draw attention to this super-cute candid photo. She uses pieces from the ephemera pack, 12×12 chipboard sheet and the layered embellishment pack. This little XO enamel piece is from the layered embellishment pack, but actually comes on a wood button. Simone pulled it off to use as a large enamel piece instead. So smart!

How perfect is the completed layout?! Lots of interest and my personal favorite-clusters! Find more about this layout of Simone’s blog and the process video she did on her YouTube channel!

Her second layout is AMAZING too! Simone really got creative with the stitching and paint and most of all-cutting her photo! It makes it look as though they’re in the flowers, doesn’t it? I just love! She talks about the process on her blog post here.

This photo shows a better look at that stitching. It’s so awesome how she used the stitching as her outline and then colored it in on her white cardstock. I keep admiring it while I’m typing this! You can also find a few awesome pieces from the Heart Day line in this photo. The chipboard heart and this so adorable puffy heart are both from the line. However, this awesome heart flair? This is made specially for my shop by A Flair For Buttons and are free with every order! I LOVE that Simone was able to make use of these in her layouts!

Simone used a chipboard flower and flowers fussy cut from this paper to create a dimensional layered look. I need her to teach me how to fussy cut! The chipboard letters in her title are also from Heart Day, but could be used for anything!

Here is the final look at this entire beautiful layout. If you love Simone’s work as much as I do, you should definitely check her out on her blog and YouTube channel. She also posts regularly on her Instagram!

Heart Day Gift Bag by Jennie

Jennie used the Heart Day collection to make this awesome gift bag to carry Valentine’s home from school! Imagine receiving a gift in this bag. I may be more excited about the bag than the gift! Check out her blog post about this project here.

Jennie used a few papers from the line (Adore You, Hugs & Kisses and Sweethearts) to create the background and the fringe. Then she put a chipboard sticker from the 12×12 chipboard stickers and Happy Valentine’s Day from the phrase stickers to embellish. She made sure to use some super-strong Tombow Xtreme Adhesive to hold everything down, since this will be carried around. The finishing touch was the tag from the ephemera pack tied to the handle with some twine.

Jennie has such creative and inspiring ideas! I would have never thought to do this before, but now I’m thinking about all the bags I want to make. How about you?

A Week with Odessa

Odessa documented her busy week using the Heart Day collection. She was able to include a lot of photos because she did a lot of her journaling directly on her photos. This is a great idea, especially if your photo has a lot of “white space”. She was able to pull out her main subject for each photo using the thickers in the line. A great way to draw attention to that pocket to see why that may be a special photo!

Check out her blog post for a few more tips and tricks she used to create this spread!

Here’s a closer look at how she got her journaling in while still adding lots of good photos. A few chipboard pieces for embellishment (the cute heart is still my favorite!).

Fries in your Frosty? Yes! A little card from the ephemera pack marks the date and a little arrow from the pack draws your attention. I love how this shows that it’s only February 2nd and not the 14th this week. Just showing how you can use this line ANYTIME!

More of my favorite hearts! Also a frame to call attention to this photo (which deserves it because it’s Starbucks!).

Odessa saved a piece of her paper from her donut to use as a journal card! I love this technique!

Project Life by Jennie

Jennie’s made this adorable project life spread using the featured line, Crate Paper Heart Day. Jennie makes the best title cards! She used a tag from the ephemera pack that said, “Happy Valentine’s Day”. Since it wasn’t Valentine’s, she used another tag from the layered embellishments to cover that up. You can’t even tell! The chipboard thickers from the line and my favorite puffy heart stickers to say her week and this stamp from Elle’s Studio for her dates. Check out her blog post about this layout here.

Jennie cut down some of the papers from the collection to use as her 3×4 cards. She numbered her pockets to coordinate with her journaling card, one of my go-to techniques to give you more room to add photos and still get all of your journaling in!

I love how she added the book they read and a little book review stamp (also from Elle’s Studio). I love looking back on my project life and seeing the books my son was loving during a certain time in his life. Next time I’ll be adding mine in too, like Jennie did here! The arrows from the chipboard sticker sheet indicate which book got the good review.

Here are some photos of the rest of the spread. Make sure to scroll all the way down to see the process video Jennie did for this layout. Her process videos are so fun!

More puffy hearts, swoon! I love that she documented her currently’s using a journal card from rukristin and that she’s watching on of my all-time favorite shows!

Project Life by Odessa

Odessa used Crate Paper Heart Day to document her week. She shows how you can use this collection for something other than Valentine’s Day. This is just her regular week that she documents project life-style! You should totally check out her blog post about this layout. I love how well her personality comes out in her writing!

You know those cute little Heart Day Cards with envelopes? You don’t only have to use them as cards to give away, you can also use them on layouts or in your project life like Odessa did here because they’re 3×4!

It’s so great how Odessa includes so many details of her life. Here she shows the current weather and her current favorite get up & go songs. Memorabilia is also a great way to remember the details. Odessa added the coffee sleeve from the donut shop pictured next to it. Things change a lot in 20 years and without this logo, she may not remember how this donut shop used to look! Decorating with enamel hearts and a big chipboard heart from the line is the perfect finishing touch for this pocket.

Now can we talk about how cute all the puffy hearts are? I mean, adorable! These look super-cute alone or in groups, like Odessa did here. LOVE!

A close up of the adorable puffy stickers. I just love these so much!

Odessa cuts a lot of her photos to 3×3 so she can still use the pretty papers behind them. The Thickers are from the Heart Day line, but they’re perfect for any layout. You can’t go wrong with a black and white alpha!

Here is the completed layout. So much pink love going on here! Even the snack from Starbucks matches the layout! Oh, and that beautiful pink sky! Gorgeous!

Check out Odessa’s blog post about this layout and find out more about her on Instagram. She shares a lot about her paper crafting and knitting projects. Her feed is so much fun!

Planner Layout by Sandy

For Sandy, February is all about love. Sandy stuffed her Simple Stories planner full of all these goodies from the Crate Paper Heart Day collection. She designed her adorable February page like a mini layout using the collection.

Here you can find some of the papers from the collection and lots of lovely layered pieces from the ephemera pack. She framed her photo with a frame from the 12×12 chipboard stickers and layered some feathers and a doily behind it all for some beautiful interest!

She used an acetate sheet as a dashboard that so perfectly frames her layout. While this acetate isn’t available in the shop, there are some Bazzill acetate sheets that can be cut down and hole-punched to create a dashboard for your own planner!

I had to include this close up photo of all the goodies Sandy stuffed in here! How fun does this look? Not only does it make it easy to find your products that coordinate with your monthly design, but it’s beautiful! She used a phrase sticker directly on her planner. If you’re unsure about sticking things to your planner directly, you can place your favorite stickers on a tag or card and slip in into your pockets. Here’s a list of the items featured here if you’d like to stuff your planner too! Heart Day Ephemera Pack, Heart Day Layered Embellishments, Heart Day Puffy Heart Stickers and Heart Day Phrase Stickers.

Sandy has put together an unboxing video of this whole line. Watch the video below if you’d like to see this all up close! Find Sandy on YouTube where she does unboxing videos and process videos. She’s also on Instagram where you can see more of her work. You really have to see what she’s done with her Heidi Swapp Instax Album! She’s been sharing her progress with that on her Instagram too!

Heart Day Valentines by Simone

Adorable and brilliant! Simone made these super-cute Valentines for her kids class using the Crate Paper Heart Day collection and some goldfish crackers.

She found a design in Silhouette Studio that looks exactly like a goldfish cracker. Then she glued on some googly eyes and had the cutest fish ever! Check out her blog post to see all of her directions on how she made these including the cut file she used.

She typed up this sweet poem on the back and had her littles sign it. She made copies of the poems and also cut them on her Silhouette using regular white cardstock. Then she adhered the cardstock poems to the patterned paper from the Heart Day collection. Then she punched holes and attached these little goldfish cracker bags to each one. She links where to find these crackers on her blog post.

How cute did these turn out!? Now I am reconsidering the Pokemon Valentines my son picked out this year!

Find Simone on her blog and be sure to check out her YouTube channel. I’ll include the unboxing video she did featuring the Heart Day collection below. She’s also sharing her most recent projects on her Instagram.
